August

Throughout August we had lots of ecomm shoots for SS25 meaning on most mornings I would be steaming the rails and gathering shoes and accessories needed on set, as well as assisting where I could throughout the day to find things depending whether I was on set for the day or working on other tasks. I spent the first week doing several different tasks, such as tidying the studio and styling area, where I moved a couple boxes of SS25 accessories into the stock room, tidied away styling bits like socks and hats that had been left lying around back into the right storage boxes, put a few pairs of shoes away back onto the shelves, cleaned and re organized a couple of styling trollies, sorted out shoe shop boxes so that they were taking up less space in the styling area. I assisted Molly the photography placement student by steaming a couple of samples for her to shoot on the mannequins. I was able to gain hands on experience with styling on an ecomm shoot, Kathryn directed me with styling bits for example tweaking and adjusting things like the collars and sleeves etc.

The following week I helped out on ecomm shoots where I could, I had to check in the container and styling area for carry forward stuff that needed to be found, added styling pages to the AW25 Pre Brand creative deck and ordered styling bits online to be used on a campaign shoot. Later on in the week I had to go through the SS25 main drop list and check which womenswear SKUS were on there, and then check them alongside the SS25 Main styling decks, I then added the word dropped on the slides that were focused on those SKUS. A good experience from this specific week would be assisting Kathryn and Aisling with AW25 Pre styling days and fit checks because when they were racking up, I was dressing the model and taking reference photos to then be added to the styling deck, which I helped with by adding a look per page and then creating a page that included all the looks to see what they looked like together, this was sectioned into Barbour and Barbour International. The following day I assisted with both men’s and women’s AW25 Pre styling days meetings, I would continuously export the reference photos of the chosen looks for campaign and then add them onto the deck along with the codes, CADS or mannequin shots and styling notes.

The week after that was the AW25 Pre campaign, which consisted of four shoots across three days. On the Monday I travelled to Linhope shooting lodge in Alnwick, to assist on the Barbour women’s shoot, where I worked with Kathryn and Aisling with unpacking, steaming, assisting the model, carrying props and then packing away the clothes, accessories and footwear at the end of the day. It was a good experience as I was able to get an insight and better understanding of how campaign shoots are planned and what goes into making them happen, especially the styling aspects. Being able to collaborate with freelancers and external people in the industry was a good networking opportunity. The following two days of campaign were in the studio, the first one being dedicated to Barbour menswear. I helped prep by un-tagging the samples and steaming, as well as unpacking and retagging the clothes, shoes and accessories from the shoot the day before. I then prepped the rails for the shoots the next day by checking everything was there that needed to be and steamed all the samples.

Over the last few days of August I assisted with ecomm multiple times where I would steam, find missing styling pieces from the rails, gather footwear and accessories to be used on set and helped with ticking things off on the range plan and shoot lists if needed to. I re-tagged the B.I. Men’s AW25 Pre rail from the campaign shoot that happened the previous week and organised some more samples that we borrowed from Gregor Gillies (design and development manager of men’s clothing) into a box, I went to Barbour house to return these to him as I also had to do a laundry run. I did several other tasks such as finishing the Barbour SS25 styling decks for Kathryn to check through, put some props away back into the container from the AW25 Pre campaign shoots and worked with Molly to roll up multiple coloramas to be picked up from the studio.
